News: tar-compress; SardanaConfig, slow motors; new gpfs, pyspMonitor: cursor

• GPFS (Konstantin): need an easy-to-use application which tar-compresses files in GPFS. Will be discussed with IT.

  The topic has been discussed with IT. They find it interesting.

  Discussion items: 
    - chose good chunk sizes for the containers carefully
    - what if containers are corrupted during transfer
    - note: data already uncompressed archived
    - interesting if new export system will be installed
    - this request ist related to other workflows, e.g. handle reduced beamtimes
  

  IT will discuss internally.

• configure change events for slow motors (P10): background: for very slow motors the frequency of the position update in spock may be not sufficient, solution: use /online_dir/SardanaConfig.py to configure the change events after SardanaAIO has been executed, an example can be found here

• new gpfs:

  IT plans to change the server types:

    - current status: ESS 5000, power-9, IB-100
    - planned: 
      + replace power architektur by x86 
      + use high capacities SSDs 40 TB, bigger, 
        slower, but internal compression
      + go for IB-200 (HDR): temperature problems need to be solved.
  

• pyspMonitor (Fabian): make cursor functionality available in pyspMonitor, work has begun, waiting for input.
