News: Debian-9 Status, ICS trouble, SardanaMacroTester, PiLC: take over VFCADC functionality, Data policy, MacroPath

• Debian-9 Status: Update priority on BL PCs, not lab. PCs. So far: FLASH, P01, P04, P06, P08, P11, P21, P22, P23, P64, P65, P03 (2 missing), P02 (upgrade started).

  Issues:

  • No issues on the OS itself.
  • Tango server which are used at single BLs needed special care.
  • MacroServer: gh_enable bug fixed.
  • P08: problem defining MGs in online.xml, under investigation.

• ICS: yesterday ICS troubles have been reported. MF ist investigating the issue.

• SardanaMacroTester:
  • check, if these strings are in the file: macro or __name__
  • include MacroServer PythonPath property correctly

• No new VFCAFCs will be built. The functionality will be taken over by the PiLC.

• Data policy: proposals will be deleted 10 years after expiration, 10 years after last beamtime. Consequence: experiment data related to the proposal will be deleted. Applies to DESY co-proposers as well.

• MacroPath: where to store user-modified macros?

  Current MacroPath:

  • /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/sardana/sardana-macros/DESY_general contains Macros provided by FS-EC

  • /common/p09/sardanaMacros contains Macros maintained by the beamline staff. Beamline accounts have read-only access. To change these Macros, users have to copy them to other directories where they have write-access.

  • /home/p09user/sardanaMacros contains Macros which are editable from beamline accounts.

  • /gpfs/local/sardanaMacros contains Macros which can be maintained from beamline accounts. No backups, not accessible from Maxwell.

  • /bl_documents/sardanaMacros contains Macros which can be maintained from beamline accounts. Two snapshots per day, not accessible from Maxwell.

  AR proposes to replace /gpfs/local (scratch space) by /gpfs/current/shared.
