GPFS Core Utilization

The GPFS Core server is now filled to more than 70% (4.5.2017). We have to implement procedures to delete files from the Core to come to a sustained operation.

Current status: total allocated space: 810 TB, files which have not been touched since 180 days: 242 TB, files which have not been touched since 365 days: 96 TB. Scratch space usage: 40 TB.

• Beamtimes that have not been touched for XX days will be deleted from GPFS.

  XX depends on the utilization and the staging effort.

• A copy of the data will be created in the dCache, except for files in scratch_bl. Note: raw data are copied to the dCache 7 days after a beamtime ended. Therefore 2 dCache copies of the raw data exist.

• Need a documentation of how to stage files from dCache.

• Expiration time for files on scratch: align with Maxwell, BeeGFS, 3 months?
