The upgrade plans

1. ASAP3 (GPFS + support nodes + IB) for 2017 and 2018
   • Extend the SSD-based storage to cope with metadata needs and data rates. Cost 85 kEUR, 2016Q4/2017Q1

   • Additional proxy nodes for new detectors, P3Ext, SpecialInstruments and Flash. Costs: 2x 10 kEUR 17Q1, possibly add 2x 10 kEUR 17Q4, assumption: proxies can be ordered on demand

   • Upgrade InfiniBand infrastructure. Costs: 2x 11 kEUR 17Q1

   • Upgrade GPFS core by 1.5 or 2 PB, costs: 300 kEUR, 17Q2/3

   • Upgrade BL file system to 20 GB/s, all-flash, optimized for bandwidth (burst buffer), 'Technologieverfolgung', costs unknown, Q2/Q3 2017

2. Cold storage (Archiv), Objectstore, 'Technologieverfolgung', general service for DESY, costs unknown do far. (dCache: 1 PB of disk space: 250 kEUR plus 15 kEUR for tapes)

3. Doubling compute nodes: 8 Server a 12 kEUR (32 cores, 512 GB RAM) 3 Server mit GPU (32 cores, 512 GB RAM, K40) a 15 kEUR, add to slurm (batch + interactive) Total: 140 kEUR

4. Group storage, currently 415 TB for 115 kEUR, double capacity: 115 kEUR, time ?

5. Rebuild DORIS network: 64.4 or 76 kEUR

6. PCs, Notebooks, Monitors, parts: 300 kEUR per year
