Introduction

Bluesky has been created at the NSLS-II where it is used at all beamlines. Other institutes also show interest, among them: LCLS, SSRL, APS, ALS, Diamond Light Source, Australian Synchrotron, Canadian Light Source, PSI, Pohang Light Source II and BESSY II.

This note describes the work that has been carried out to evaluate Bluesky for the ROCK-IT project and also for Petra IV.

At DESY Tango is used as the device access and transport layer. So an interface from Bluesky to Tango has to be created. Furthermore there are some concepts in Sardana (magic commands, environment, measurement group, hooks) which turned out to be very usefull. One of the goals of this initiative is to see whether these features can be implemented in Bluesky as well.

The Bluesky integration at DESY is a common activity of Jan Meyer and Thorsten Kracht.
