Analyzing data / accessing staged data from inside DESY

Staged data can be accessed in read only mode via the workgroup server pool p3wgs6. The pool combines several work group servers running Scientific Linux 6.x and and a load balancer directs a user to one of the available machines at log in. The servers in the pool provide selected software (e.g. IDL, Matlab) and allow reading and processing data. Analysis results have to be written to storage space with write permission. This can be a user unix home directory or for temporarily saving files the local partition '/scratch'1.9. In case some 10 Gigabyte of storage space is needed, a so called XXL volume is provided to a user on the Offline Fileserver (see sec. 1.5.2) on request (contact FS-EC, i.e. J. Grabitz or A. Rothkich). A temporary partition is also available on the Offline Fileserver.
