Path Name Syntax

This is how gra-speak treats path names:

• The tile (~) is borrowed from Unix shells. It translates to the home directory.

• Subdirectories are separated with periods and directory specifications are enclosed in < and >, e.g. the file name

  <~.prog>before_fast_scan.gra

  translates to

  /home/user/prog/before_fast_scan.gra

  on Unix hosts.

• Environment variables are translated, e.g.:

  <online_dir>exp_ini.exp
  online_dir:exp_ini.exp

  Both specifications describe the same file.

  ONLINE determines the online_dir by looking at the environment variable ONLINE_DIR. If that has not been defined, it searches for /online_dir. This link can be thought of as the system default, whereas the environment variable is needed to setup a test environment.

Notice that these regulations become obsolete, if you are using the Spectra-Perl interface.
