Preparing the Test Version

The ONLINE software can be tested on any host that runs SPECTRA, after the following steps have been executed:

• Create a directory which serves as online_dir, e.g.:

  unix> mkdir ~/online

• The online_dir has to contain at least exp_ini.exp. It can be created or copied from an experiment, e.g.:

  unix> cd ~/online
  unix> scp exp-host:/online_dir/exp_ini.exp .
  unix> scp exp-host:/online_dir/online.dev .

  It is recommended to copy the device list from the experiment which is to be simulated.

  ONLINE can be started by

  unix> spectra -online -sim -o~/online
