A file that is created during the startup of every ONLINE session. It contains the user name, the process id and the DISPLAY variable. If Online finds such a file, it searches the system for a process with matching user id. If such a process exists, ONLINE assumes that somebody else is running ONLINE already and returns to the shell. Otherwise the user is prompted whether the last session was terminated by a crash.
